Maggie McGinty

I'm Maggie and I was born and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, with strong Irish family connections. From my teens to late thirties, I dotted between Glasgow and Adelaide before settling permanently in South Australia. (Photo by @kyahmross)

Storytelling has shaped most of my professional life in one way or another — through corporate communications, stand-up comedy, theatre and celebrancy — and now through fiction.

My writing is deeply influenced by Glasgow: its humour, contradictions, resilience and emotional honesty. I’m particularly drawn to stories about second chances, hidden lives, community, memory and the often hidden grace that people carry through difficult times.

I live in Adelaide with my husband Steven, and Billy Connolly, the Chinese Crested Powderpuff. TREE BIRD FISH BELL is my debut novel.
